Mental Health Counseling at Morse Therapy Group

COUNSELING SHOULD BE A COLLABORATIVE PARTNERSHIP.

Counseling services are most effective when you feel comfortable with and understood by your therapist, which is why we offer a free brief phone consultation for all potential new clients. Empathy in therapy is essential, as not every relationship is compatible. This consultation will help you begin to assess whether our therapy is a good fit for your mental health needs.

SOCIAL IDENITIES are important.

We pride ourselves on our efforts to provide counseling services that act as supportive allies to members of marginalized communities. By fostering empathy in therapy, we work hard to understand your unique life experiences within a broader cultural context. We are committed to exploring our differences to ensure that these variations do not blind us to your reality, particularly in the realm of mental health and psychological assessment.

PRIVACY AND AUTONOMY are protected.

We are not members of any health insurance plans because we strongly value confidentiality and autonomy in our counseling services. Insurance companies often require details about your mental health and treatment, which can influence the type and length of therapy you receive. We are not willing to compromise your privacy or care by sharing this information with the staff of insurance companies. However, we will support you should you decide to seek reimbursement from your insurer by providing documentation for a psychological assessment that you can file upon request.

WE VALUE RESEARCH AND THE APPLICATION OF SCIENCE IN OUR WORK.

We are knowledgeable about empirically-validated treatments in our counseling services and utilize researched measures of change to track progress. To enhance empathy in therapy, we also employ psychological assessments to clarify concerns when needed. We actively monitor your mental health progress by seeking feedback from you about what is going well and what is not working in therapy.

OUR APPROACHES AND BACKGROUNDS

Tracey Morse, PhD Licensed Psychologist

Tracey Morse, PhD Licensed Psychologist

As a psychologist, my approach to therapy is active, direct, and authentic, emphasizing empathy in therapy. I provide and solicit lots of feedback as part of my counseling services. I also utilize psychological assessment to develop a customized treatment plan and to effectively track progress.

I have worked with individuals from all walks of life, including college students and those coping with severe mental health challenges. My experience includes helping people who struggle with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, life transitions (e.g., career changes, parenting, divorce), self-harm behaviors, and recovery from trauma.

To become a psychologist, I dedicated 5 years to completing coursework and providing over 1,200 therapy sessions under supervision through audio recordings and live observation. I graduated in 2007 with a doctoral degree in clinical psychology (PhD) from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, a program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). Following that, I completed an APA accredited internship at the University of Utah Counseling Center, where I conducted another 1,500 therapy sessions while supervised via video recordings. Lastly, I finished a 2,000-hour post-doctoral residency at Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee.

I am a member of the American Group Psychotherapy Association, Florida Psychological Association and American Psychological Association. I am able to see clients in-person in the Tallahassee area and online for anyone in most states as a PsyPact member.
